Summer 2016 Music Ministry Expansion!

We know that there are dozens of parishioners at Resurrection who have been blessed with musical gifts, and we want to set the bar high for music at our parish, both for Masses and prayer services. Our hopes for this summer include:

  • training up volunteers to man sound technologies for each weekend Mass

  • recruiting new members for the parish choir

  • training up new cantors for Sunday Masses and Compline

  • making some additions to our ensembles. These will focus on contemporary worship music, while still incorporating traditional hymns and forming a cohesive unity with all parish music ministry.

  • forming a worship band for musical needs outside the Liturgy (Alpha Course, Encounter nights, retreats, etc).

All musicians serving as a part of liturgical ministries at Resurrection will take part in a Formation Day on Saturday August 27th. Everyone will receive an updated handbook of resources for our music department, as well as be given practical tools and guidance for liturgy planning and best of all, an opportunity to pray together and reflect on the importance of music in Catholic worship.
